Kids being kids

Some of our girls jumping rope

Some boys inside the village... of course you take a camera anywhere and get followed with little ones wanting their photos taken

The kids have pet chickens and these boys got some eggs... think they are proud?

Palm Sunday

This Sunday all of our children got palm branches to carry on their way into Sunday School. They quickly were taken away as 100 little 5 and 6 year old boys automatically used them as whips and devices to pick at each other. It was cute for the walk at least!

IFRP

Here I am in Haiti again :) working on an International Food Relief Partnership (IFRP) grant for Pwoje Espwa http://pwojeespwa.blogspot.com.

I am so glad to be able to be back in Haiti for these five months working in the place I love with the kids that I adore! I saw most of them today already and it was so good to be able to see them. I was able to have some good conversations with people and went over the proposal that I will be working to bring up to date to submit again for next year.

One of the Sunday school teachers already asked me if I was going to be there Sunday and if we are going to be able to do a few more things. I love coming back and seeing the program up and running all the while. It is a great opportunity for both the children and the teens running it. I am very proud of them!! Thanks to FUMC for helping me get it started!!

Tomorrow I am going back out to Castle Pere to see all the children and hang out with them for the day. I brought my volleyball along this time so I am going out to play some ball with them. Hopefully it doesn't turn into a soccer match right away.

Sorry no pictures yet, I was so excited to be here I totally forgot my camera. Maybe some tomorrow?

The Lord is great and everything happens for a reason. He keeps bringing me back to here about five months out of every year for the past three. Think it's coincidental?

God Bless!

Haiti

Well I just got back from a very short trip to Haiti with Global Family Philanthropy. It was very interesting and good to see how things are going. The whole situation of Haiti is still very frustrating and sadening to think about all the displaced people, jobless, hungry and with little to no access to restrooms and showers.

The tent cities are big and numerous. As we drove out of Port Au Prince every soccer field and open space were covered in tents and makeshift homes. The middle of the road had makeshift homes because people were unable to build them anywhere else. The situation is still desparate.

As we got into Les Cayes and were able to see the Espwa kids again and some of the other places that have children and schools it was more heart warming and encouraging. Espwa alone has taken in over 200 children and its very obvious. The need for food and clothing is great and people are responding. The biggest issue is getting the needed money, clothes, and food distributed to the right places.

I am going back to Haiti in two weeks to work on a few different projects. I am very excited and will be able to tell you much more about these projects once I get down there. In the meantime check out the website www.eduplushaiti.org to see what Paige and I have been working on and will continue to be doing.

The Lord is great and it is more than evident now that this was meant to happen. I am going to be in Haiti at least until July or August working in Les Cayes. I am so thankful to have so many opportunities and to be able to let God lead me into the places He needs me to be.
